Chapters 1-4 - WISDOM vs. Knowledge
The purpose and theme is that wisdom is crucial for us as believers of Christ. Where knowledge is just facts, wisdom goes deeper and takes that knowledge and acts accordingly.
Fearing the Lord as in showing reverence to Him, accepting God's laws and commandments, trusting the Lord God with all your heart, obeying the instruction given by parents and crying out for insight and discretion = wisdom.
Pretty powerful start to this book, wouldn't you say?
What Bible verses really spoke to you this week, want to share?
Here are some we discussed in our group:
Proverbs 1:7- 8 Fear the of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. Listen to your father's instruction, and do not forsake your mother's teaching.
Proverbs 2: 6 For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He holds victory instore for the upright, He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless. For He guards the course of the just and protects the way of His faithful ones.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord God with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 4:7- Wisdom is supreme, therefore get wisdom.
