Remember Who You Are

If someone were to ask you that question, how would you respond?

Many times we think of our character or attributes and answer with: I am 14 years old and have brown hair and blue eyes. Or I am a volleyball player and am in the 8th grade.

Sometimes we may answer with a role or name we have. My name is "fill in the blank" and I am in the "fill in the blank" family. I am the middle child or the oldest.

But what if we answered that question a little differently? What if we not only could say who we are, but could declare with confidence who we belong to - proudly! It could change the way we live our lives!

You may be many things. A student. A team player. A painter. A poet. A dreamer... But, the most important part of who you are all comes down to "Who" you choose to follow!

Who are you? A daughter. A very important daughter. A lovely and noble daughter.

The reason we must stand firm in that view of ourselves and know we are a child of God is that our culture and the ways of this world will loudly declare otherwise. It will say to just follow along with what everyone else is doing. It will say that little sins don't matter. It will say that if nobody knows, it won't really hurt you. It will say that you must accept things even if they feel wrong. It will say follow us.

But, here's the Truth...

Romans 12:2 tells us "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

When we follow the world we forget our real identity. When we follow the world we forget "who we are" and more importantly "Who" we belong to.

How do you know if you are following the ways of the world or the ways of the Father?

Seek His wisdom. Pause and Pray. Ask for His guidance.

As you dig into His Word today, seek His Truth and let Him declare "who you are!"

His beautiful daughter! Believe it with your whole heart.
