Sweet Haven Cottage on Mimi's Creek
Welcome to east Texas! Home of the Piney Woods, natural lakes, historic sights, and wild beauty. This little “peace” of heaven gives you both comfort and charm, with a rustic flair. Explore the 9+ acres of property by hiking along the nearby creek, we lovingly call Mimi’s Creek, which is located near the tree line, or check out one of the five nearby lakes where you can swim, fish, or kayak.
Want more sightseeing? Then be sure to check out the quaint towns of Woodville or Livingston, just a short drive away. Big Thicket National Preserve is also a must see with its natural beauty, places to hike, paddle boat, fish, and hunt.
Get cozy, settle in, and let the stress melt away as you sit on the porch with a cup of coffee in the morning or watch the deer graze in the evening.
Sweet Haven Cottage is currently a work in progress, but we are praying that we will have this little place finished by the end of the year. In God's time, we will have a slightly larger cabin on the hill adjacent to this cottage, to provide a little more space and bedrooms for larger parties.
Come and enjoy the country air, explore the beauty in the thick tree line, and soak in God's beauty here as you find peace and comfort for your weary soul.
Our Story
After lots of prayers and many of life's twists and turns, we finally find ourselves working together to create a dream that was laid on our heart nearly twenty years ago. Together we are building a tiny home on a piece of property that if I told you the entire backstory would only prove God was behind it all! Let’s just say butterflies (that symbolize and remind me of my late mother, we called "Mimi") and a radiant cross scattered across the sky with sunbeams was involved (picture above). It was as if God was telling us it was time. It surely wasn’t the dream we had envisioned, but we know this was what God had planned for us, and it came with a purpose. We are eager to see what God does at our little “Sweet Haven Cottage!” Please stay up to date on the progress and timeline as we hope to bless you with this little slice of heaven as you soak in God's peace here, too!
